In celebration of the NBA's upcoming 75th season, NBA legends Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Dirk Nowitzki will also grace the cover of the NBA 75th Anniversary Edition (along with Durant). Parker is the first WNBA player to grace the cover of NBA 2K in the GameStop Exclusive edition.

Durant graced the cover of NBA 2K13, along with Blake Griffin (and Derrick Rose), in the past. Doncic and Nowitzki are the first Mavericks ever to be featured on the cover of the game's lengthy history.

Nowitzki, Durant and Abdul-Jabbar each took to Twitter to announce their place on the cover of the game with Abdul-Jabbar declaring it "a WOW" to be featured on the cover. Durant and Doncic called it an honor to be named cover athletes, while Nowitzki made fun of the situation by tweeting "I'm not certain who the other guys were, but it's an enormous honor to Buy MT NBA 2K22 PS4 be featured on the NBA2K22 cover."
