WoW's New Expansion Battle For Azeroth Sets A Sales Record

The World of Warcraft subscriber figure is part of Activision Blizzard's recent quarterly earnings report ended September 30. The net revenue for the quarter was $657 million, which is compared to $751 million last year. In total, Activision Blizzard posted a gain of $56 million for this quarter WoW WoTLK Classic Gold, compared with an income of $226 million the year before.

Digital channels' net revenues during the quarter were $399 million and made up 60 percent of the quarter's total net revenues, Activision Blizzard said. World of Warcraft : Ghosts, released yesterday, generated $1 billion in shipments on its debut day however this figure isn't included in the report of earnings for Activision today.

"Our third quarter results were above our expectations and we're now able to boost our 2013 outlook net revenue and earnings per share," Kotick said. "Robust continued commitment to our key franchises drove digital revenues, which comprised most of the revenue. This quarter is proof that games like World of Warcraft engage and keep our players engaged all year."

In the fourth quarter, Activision Blizzard became an independent company for the first time in the past five years through a share buyback from Vivendi that was officially approved in October.

Battle for Azeroth, the seventh expansion for World of Warcraft , launched last week--and the release was a huge success. Blizzard confirmed today that they was able to sell more than 3.4 million copies worldwide on the day of launch, August 14. setting a new WoW expansion record. It's not immediately clear what percentage of this total includes pre-order sales, but regardless of the case, it's a staggering number. It's higher than the previous record of 3.3 million units sold on the first day from Legion just two years earlier. The 2010's Cataclysm Also sold 3.3 million units in the first day cheap WoTLK Classic Gold.
